Winona State University Men’s Basketball, 2005-2006, 2006-2007, 2007-2008 – “The Run”.

The Warriors put together one of the most dominant stretches of basketball ever player at any level from 2005-2008, compiling a combined 105-6 record. Winona State won its first-ever NCAA Division II National Championship in 2006 and was crowned champion once again in 2008. The Warriors reached the National Championship Game in three consecutive seasons from 2006-2008, and won the NCAA DII North Central Regional each year. Winona State also won the NSIC regular season and postseason titles in all three seasons.

The Warriors’ 57-game winning streak from January 13, 2006-March 22, 2007 set a Division II basketball record, and still stands today as longest winning streak in NCAA D2 men’s basketball history. Winona State’s 38 wins in 2007-08 also set an NCAA Division II record.

The Warriors played in front of a frantic fan base that packed the house on a nightly basis that saw Winona State host and win all three regional championships. Winona State defeated Virginia Union, 73-61, in the 2006 National Championship Game, taking home the school’s first NCAA Division II National Title, and the determined Warriors led the NCAA Regional in scoring margin to take home the 2008 National Championship once again with an 87-76 win over Augusta State, capping their history run.
