Bergner (1988-92) set and still owns three Winona State distance records – the 10,000m, the 5000m (Indoor) and the marathon. He was also a member of two record-setting relay teams. Bergner was a four-time NAIA Track & Field national qualifier and a 1991 NAIA All-American (second place in the marathon). In 1989, Bergner was the individual NIC champion in the 3,000m (Indoor) and again won a conference crown in 1990 in cross country. Bergner was a five-time NIC All-Conference recipient for cross country and track & field. Bergner’s 1988 cross country team won the NIC title, the district championship and placed 12th at the NAIA National Championships.
